STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) clubs help childern develop their critical thinking and fine motor skills, through research, design and production projects.
Children are encouraged to explore STEAM principles through practical experiments. They begin to consider real-world problems and design solutions to them, including thinking about who the solutions are for and the environment they will be in.
In the process, they will bring together various elements of different lessons as they carry out research and deliver presentations, gain and apply knowledge of materials, design and produce their ideas.
Through their chosen projects, they will explore a range of making skills, from hand tools to 3D printing, encountering the advantages and disadvantages of each as they go.
As well as research, presentation, design and production, children will learn to think about health and safety and risk assessments as they consider their working environments and designs.
If you would like us to run a club or workshop based on these ideas in your school or group, contact us for more information.
